Consider.

Applying is the easiest part of the job application.
Assuming everyone on this blog already knows me, you probably have the context. Just in case someone somehow ended up here who does not know me in person: First of all, why? Second of all, welcome. And lastly, my company closed down this year in March and I have been unemployed since. In a way, that's good news because this is the first time I was able to have a long break since hight school. It was valuable time to both rest and to improve my skills that I could not practice during my previous job.
It is also a golden opportunity to dive in this magical world of recruitment. It has fatigued me heavily so I will use this blog post as an excuse to just rant about my struggles in finding a job. I have heavily underestimated how difficult it would be, and how I took it for granted that I was able to find a job immediately after my graduation.
I wish I was tired because of constant rejections. That is (un)fortunately not the case. I apply to each job with genuine interest, yet I receive nothing in return. Not even a rejection email. That makes me feel insignificant and unimportant as a human being, because it implies I am just a number in the recruiter's eyes. Am I not worthy of being told no?
I don't want to name and shame the specific companies who did it, but some made me wish I didn't apply to begin with. I know generative AI is the new rage, but that rage is just imposed on me. If any recruiter is reading this, please don't forget your ChatGPT prompt in the rejection email you send. Thank you.
If it were a simple process of just clicking "Apply" and calling it a day, I would not mind it as much. The AI-generated email finds me after I tailor my resume to highlight relevant skills, upload it to a barely-functioning website that I created an account in for some reason, re-enter every field that I had already specified in my resume, spend an hour exploring the company and writing a cover letter, and perhaps contact the recruiter to ask about the company and work. And the response? In the brilliant words of a recruiter: "If you have any additional questions about this, feel free to contact me [include your contact details]. I wish you the best of luck in your search for a new challenge." Thanks for the details. Beep boop!
For some reason, I have this sadistic desire to share the experience with the world, so I would like to inflict it on my readers. I am happy to announce that I am looking for content writers for this blog. (Not really)
