Consider.

Humble attempt at describing what this blog is about.
I am a data scientist who is doomed to do keyboard wizardry for eternity and I have no means of creative output through my job. Don't get me wrong, I love getting paid for waiting in front of my screen for hours until my code compiles, however this has never been the career path I aspired to follow. I'm a musician at heart and a horrible author in practice.
One day, I was sipping my tea and I considered something: I don't have to code all day! That is ironic, because I spent the next few days coding the website you are browsing right now. Contrary to what I do for work, I found this type of coding more calming and fun! Maybe the changing point was the lack of professional pressure on what I am doing.
Great, I said. A way to write whatever I want without being judged or bring graded. I have attempted starting a blog multiple times before, once with the same name even! I sat down to figure out what went wrong in the previous iterations of Consider.
It was the design. I wanted to quickly jump to the finished product with blog posts. So I implemented the simplest and quickest design that I could. When it comes to writing the posts, I did the same exact mistake. I rushed to get them done as quickly as possible. Looking back at the posts after a couple of days, I kept seeing the flaws in my writing. I wanted to delete and start over, which was demotivating.
This time I poured my soul into the design. It's nothing groundbreaking nor complex. Still, it has the cartoony feel to it, featuring my beloved mascot Gerald. It has opportunities to use my own art and writing, on top of my own design. Most importantly, it helps me to break the routine of coding and consider something else time to time.

So what's Consider.? It is not meant to be a cohesive collection of writing, but rather a frantic pile of thoughts. I want to write about random thoughts I have on a daily basis and I hope to make you go "Yeah, I have not considered this before!" Although I do not want to limit myself to a specifi type of content, there are certain rules for myself:
  • Free and free - Not under anyone else's pressure while not hiding behind a paywall. Maybe a donate button in the future.
  • Smooth - Not littered by ads or popups that make you quit the website within two seconds.
  • Interactive - What you instantly see is the tip of the iceberg. There are so many hidden features scattered here and there. Games, parodies, calculators, you name it! I want the experience to involve the user too. (Note that such interactive parts are indeed mostly hidden. You need to look for them actively!)
Moreover, I would like to create a small community in which we can sit and consider together. You can register or login to join! The link will also take you to a list where you can find the advantages of becoming a member! (It's free and it requires no email!)
Please have a look around! I hope you enjoy this little corner of the internet as much as I liked creating it :)
